My best 11- Phil Bayles, Aviva

football

Aviva’s Phil Bayles selects his best XI for an insurance start-up. The director of brokers and key partners opts for a team made up almost entirely of broking stars, aided by Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier as a supporting forward.

1. Alex Alway (Jelf) (GK)
Alway's Shilton-esque stature would be great for coming for crosses and is impossible to round on one-on-ones. Would also know the best chippy for the way home

2. Mark Woodward (Lark) (RB)
The crafty cockney would not be afraid to mix it with the opposition but would be sociable in the bar afterwards

3. Brendan McCafferty (Willis) (LB)
The George Cohen of the team. Reads the game well and is highly valued by teammates

4. Tim Johnson (Towergate) (CM)
Every team needs a competitive player in the engine room. Every team also needs a pin-up and Johnson is easy on the eye

5. Rob Worrell (The Insurance Partnership) (CB)
The Hull enforcer with sharp elbows, and a sharper nose, is every centre forward's worst nightmare

6. Ashwin Mistry (Brokerbility) (CB)
Leicester's fi nest is not frightened of the media glare - always the man with a plan

7. John Kitson (unattached) (LM)
The maverick. Kitson is very creative, with an ability to bring his silky skills to the least likely of places

8. Steve Bamforth (Gri. ths & Armour) (CM)
Every team also needs a scouser and Steve fi ts the bill. Uses his head well, a bit like his double Alan Gilzean

9. Matt Le Tissier (ST)
A one-club man who reminds us of the value of loyalty over new acquisitions. His flair when married to efficiency is an unstoppable force

10. Graham Barr (CCV) (ST)
Graham maybe a bit more Earl Grey than Andy Gray but at least he'll make the opposition nervous before the game starts

11. Arron Banks (Brightside) (RM)
Another creative player - unfortunately ‘Messi' is more of a sartorial description than a comment on his footballing ability
